About Elaichi
Elaichi(ee-LIE-chee) began not as a business idea, but as a turning point.
Before pastry, I spent over six years in the corporate world in India as an engineer with an MBA. While the path made sense on paper, it never felt like home. In the kitchen, I found calm, clarity, and the courage to choose a different direction.
That choice led me to France to study French pastry arts at École Ducasse in Yssingeaux, and later to Vancouver, where I worked in a French pastry kitchen before pausing my career for maternity leave. When it was time to return, I chose to build something of my own, guided by the desire to be present for my daughter who was still an infant.
Elaichi patisserie is inspired by cravings from my first pregnancy, the Indian flavours I grew up with, reimagined through refined French technique. The result is pastry that is intentionally balanced: sweet, but never overpowering.
At its heart, Elaichi patisserie is a small bakery built on memory, craft, and connection. Because good food should always feel personal and is meant to be shared, and remembered long after the last bite.
We are also proud to be Vancouver's only Indian-French patisserie ever, which is also available at Granville Island Public Market (at Flavours of Hope Cafe)
